Belo sea moss gels are made in Australia from Kappaphycus alvarezii (commercially known as "Eucheuma cottonii", or gold sea moss), grown on sustainable ocean-based farms in Saint Lucia and Timor-Leste. The species is identified on the Saint Lucia phytosanitary certificate accompanying our raw material.

In 2026, samples of Belo sea moss gel purchased independently at retail were assessed by the Western Australian Department of Health. Measured iodine in the finished gel: 0.66 mg/kg (Honey) and 1.1 mg/kg (Lime).
